The beginning of an extremely fertile period of songwriting. By the end of April, I'd put out 4 EPs and 2 albums, all recorded fairly close together. I can't believe it either. Nowadays that would result in 1 album. This EP is part of why, because I don't think any of the songs are very good. The best ideas were reused in better songs. For instance, "Undecided Class of 2021" was better when it was called "Beauty Through The Centuries" a month later. "Virgin Mary Elizabeth" almost works, but it's sloppier than it needs to be, and in the 9 years since I've never thought to revisit it. "Knowing The Sun" was better when it became "White Diamond" and "Jean, Nevada", and even better than that when I used the title in the chorus of "Learning The Cold" (more on that very shortly).
