RELEASE 33

I still had a few weeks left of winter break 2018, and I was finally getting the hang of not having wisdom teeth, so I decided to spend 2 weeks recording some covers. 4 days later, I had 8 songs I was happy with. "Disarm" is, as far as I know, the only cover of a Max Gowan song out there. I think I found Max from an album he put out on Z Tapes, and then I found his earlier music and liked all of it. We're still friends. "Broken" isn't a super interesting cover so much as it is the only time I have attempted to cover a song by Damon Albarn. Gorillaz and especially Blur were pivotal in my musical journey in a way that cannot be understated, and since this is a blog post about a covers EP from 8 years ago, I won't go into it here. The short version: Gorillaz -> Blur -> Pavement -> Guided by Voices. I'm trying to think of anything worth talking about with the covers, even the ones I still like....not really! I guess the Suburban Lawns cover was an odd choice. I listened to that album obsessively around that time. "Protection" is still one of my favorites of theirs. Lost in the mix of how unique Su Tissue was is the fact that Suburban Lawns had 3 singers and they all worked. None of their songs ever felt out of place.
