ALBUM 2, RELEASE 6
I don't know if I'm on record saying this anywhere, but I really don't like the 2nd HW album. The last thing I'd done before this, solo project-wise, was a 4-track thing. The first HW album (which you'll read about much later this year) was a solid attempt at transitioning back into the 8-track workflow. This one sounds like a step backwards in that respect. Actually, just 1 step would have been an improvement over this. There's only one song I would describe as good, and it's "Young Body, Old Mind". I was definitely being somewhat melodramatic about it as a 17-year-old who I guarantee you was not considering transing their gender any time soon. I don't even think I'd considered that I was ace yet. It is a solid tune though. The only other things on there that might have something to them are "Pride" and "Show's Over". "Pride" has a neat melody right at the end. "Show's Over" is a cover of a song by Ed Gein Mystery Machine, a band that took all their songs offline years ago. I still have all but 2 of their songs, so I can tell you with absolute certainty that the original version of this kicks a ton of ass. The other cover on here is "I Heard It", by a band from that same scene called Barlow. You may know about their followup band, Ex Pilots. At the time of writing, there are 157 HW releases. This is far from the only one where I'll struggle to find interesting things to say. The nice thing about having so much music is you can just ignore all the bad ones and listen to the good ones and you'll still have a lot on your plate.
