I had just purchased a new bass amp, and I thought it might be fun to make an album where all of the guitars and basses ran through the bass amp's headphone jack. It took maybe 2 weeks. "What Goes On In Those Houses" could be my favorite on here. It's certainly the one I think about the most. It was inspired by a few houses down the street from me that I don't think I ever saw anyone walk into or out of. "Shoprite, July 27" was a collection of notes I'd written during at work that day. It's not amazing but I like how the guitars sound on it. I think some of the words from "Murmur" came from a side project that made 2 EPs and then vanished. I was way more into it than the other guy and I think he was a bit unnerved by my approach. It's all good. There's one song from that project I've been dying to remake. "Wedding Bells" and "Only Mostly There" are the hits from this. They're both so good I had to put a 12 bar blues pisstake between them. "Burn Out" was recorded live in 1 take with no overdubs. It's about Susan Denberg, the woman on the cover art. If memory serves, she was an actress who took too much acid. I could be wrong but I don't feel like looking it up in this moment. You can do that if you want. I'm not sure why I like "Board Room" so much. It just does it for me. Devil magic. "Avalanche" features a HW rarity: a 12-string guitar! I guess it's more of an 11-string on here but still. The rest of the album is a very quick and dirty affair so this song sticks out tremendously. I believe this was the only song from the album to ever get played live.
