The most recent one, at time of writing. I like "Buyout" a good bit, but it felt too slight for Automatic Panic, so I kept it off. It's a good song to lead an EP though. "Cheap Shocks" was recorded for In This House We Are Cold. I still think the riff is great, but the song itself runs out of steam about halfway through. "Prairie Prayer" is good but it lacks any muscle. If I'd added a distant-sounding electric guitar to it, maybe it could have made it onto Automatic Panic. "Shark Moo" samples a voice memo of Mark Shue (bassist of GBV) telling me and my friend Ethan where to get the best sandwiches in Dayton, OH. I didn't go there, but I suppose I have some idea how to get there when I'm back. The demo for "Hit" was recorded in January 2026. I kinda forgot about it until I was deep into work on Automatic Panic, when I heard it again and promptly listened to it about 20 times in 2 or 3 days, at which point I knew it HAD to be on the album. The original recording was about 4 minutes long, but I cut the 2nd half out in Voice Memos because it just sort of wandered off in a different direction.
