DEATH BEGINS AT BIRTH

In June 2022, Roe v Wade was under attack. Doug from Julia's War, a Philly label I was aware of through Doug's membership in a band called Tagabow, announced he was putting out a compilation of songs, and to submit a song within the next few days. I wrote "55 Beats Off" during 2 shifts at work, then recorded it in the last hour before the deadline because it was the only time I had to record it. It's called that because I was listening to a lot of Fugazi and I wanted to try to channel that. The song doesn't sound like Fugazi but I do think it's good. The other 5 songs were the only songs I'd finished for the planned In The No trilogy thus far. I think it makes for a nice EP. "Hello Whirled Across America" was about being awake the morning of Easter after listening to the full Get In The Van audiobook. It made me scared of touring as a concept even more than I already was. It took another few years for touring to ever seem truly appealing to me. "And She Cried" is the real winner of this release. I don't write a lot of ballads anymore but this one holds up real well. "The Day The 80s Died" is the exact opposite of this.
