Outtakes from You Are Not Immune To Trends and Quartered. "Remember The Imperfections" very, very nearly made it onto Trends. It might have been the last song I cut. I remember putting the album out, then spending my entire shift at work wondering if I should kept it on and cut something out. My answer now is "probably" but it ended up working well on Quartered, and on that version the drums aren't louder than the vocals. Still, I think this was a good stab. I'll probably bring this up again when I talk about Quartered, but this is someone's favorite HW song. "The World Open" was the first time I recorded stoned. For years (specifically, fall 2018 to maybe spring 2022) I separated recreational weed and recording music. I eventually felt comfortable making music stoned (boy did I) but at the time this felt like a bit of a novelty for that reason. I knew this was just a demo but to this day I've never done anything else with it. I recorded my cover of the Silver Jews song "Strange Victory, Strange Defeat" at 12:30 in the morning. September 2019 was a bad month for me after the deaths of David Berman and Daniel Johnston had left me feeling especially introspective, unsure of my place in the world.
