BEST CONCERT

I arrogantly called this "Best Concert" because I felt it was the most fun I'd had playing, the best I'd ever played, and the best recording I'd gotten of a show. I'm sure some shows from the 2022-3 full-band era beat this, but who's keeping track? Coincidentally, this exact lineup of Tommy on bass and Freya on drums is playing again (with Amelia on 2nd guitar) tomorrow in South Philly. As for the show itself, I think 10 acts played (it was a birthday celebration for the venue) and we went on last. It's funny, but listening to this again, I think it's probably not as good as I think it was. I also don't tremendously care, as is often the case with my shows even now. I do sometimes write songs a certain way if I think they would work live, but trying to make a HW show the best it could possibly be would be a major distraction from the writing and recording that I love so much more anyway. Special mention goes to "Time To Feed The Kids" which went from effectively a "vocals and guitar" song on the album to something more forceful with the addition of drums and bass. I don't remember why people were clapping during "Dangerous Jesters" but I guarantee you that was the audience and not anyone in the band.
