ALBUM 1, RELEASE 3
The first album! It's pretty rough around the edges, but then again all of this stuff is. I was still using my digital 8-track like my cassette 4-track at this time. "Marbled" takes a bit too long to get going but I actually think it holds up as an opener. "Dean Mercury" is not a good track 2 or a good song. Maybe the chorus could be salvaged but I don't think about this one very often. "Fell Apart" has a great intro and a great chorus but the mix is so bad. I think "Dig The Fast Track" is the first really good song on here. "Down the Hall of Air" tries to be something huge but might not even really be medium-sized. "Passage" was written for my band at the time, but since it was only going to be me alone anyway, I thought maybe it would fit better here. I think it's great. "Never Thought I'd See You Again" was the first song I finished for the album. It was done alongside two other songs that ended up on the Hello Dirtman EP. "Embrace Stigmata" is the big hit. I knew it at the time and 10 years later it's still true. I tried putting this on streaming in 2018 and RouteNote said I had to clear or remove the sample. I couldn't do either of those. Now none of my music is on streaming. I don't miss it in any capacity. "And No One" rules too. The outro was supposed to be more of the song, but I didn't think it really needed anything else so I just left it there. "Walk Out Alone" was the last song I wrote about the end of my first relationship. I just looked through my email account that has all the old lyrics buried within and there's lyric sets that I don't think I ever used here. Also worth mentioning is that HW was not my main project at this time. That band I mentioned before was where I put songs that I wrote deliberately. These were things that just fell out of me. It would be a bit before I could fully devote myself to Hello Whirled.
